The Bollmanic Summer of 2K5
Just a few random shots from recent family gatherings... (FYI: "Bollmanic" [accent on the second syllable] is the adjectival form of the family name. I gave it a mathematical definition in the summer of 01993 while teaching Differential Equations. A function is "bollmanic" if it is piecewise continuous and of exponential order. Trust me, this is important sometimes in higher mathematics. It turns out that most decent functions are bollmanic. [An example of a non-bollmanic function would be f(x) = xx, which fails the "exponential order" part of the definition--and that's probably more than you want to know about this.])
