Everyone knows how to factor a positive integer intoprimes. But how many ways can we break up a positive integer into a sumof smaller integers? This is one of the most basic questions in PartitionTheory. In this talk we will cover the basics of partition theory,examine some of the classical theorems and proofs using ferrers shapes andgenerating functions and discuss some interesting open problems.
