1. What is your
theory on why Mendeleev does not want his research on
Periodic Law used when talking about the Unity of Matter
hypothesis?
2. Why is it important for people studying chemistry to
study Mendeleev and not others that came before and after
him?
3. “As Mendeleev’s fame as the discoverer of the periodic
law spread, his position concerning the contributions of
Lothar Meyer began to soften...” Was this unfair or a fair
move? Was it rightfully deserved to give Mendeleelv all the
credit for finding/ developing the steps behind Periodic
Law?
4. Are the side effects of a scientific paper like this
being translated major or minor? Why?
5. How does this compare to The Canon? What does this do
that The Canon does not, and vice versa?
6. On page 162 Mendeleev says, “We still may hear the voices
of its opponents - they enjoy perfect freedom, but vainly
will their voices rise so long as they do not use the
language of demonstrated facts.” How does this relate to
issues and scientific developments we see today?
